Ever since she was born, Paula de Jong (11/17/1983) has had the “equestrian bug”.
After graduating at HAVO, Paula went to Austria for half a year in order to work there at a major stud.
Back then, her parents did not really agree with her decision to build up her future in the equestrian sector.
But instead of being disillusioned, she returned from Austria - being enthused and bringing 7 horses with her.
In early December 2001, this was the starting point for her equestrian adventure.
From 2002 until 2008, Paula was self-employed entrepreneur on “De Osseweide” in Dokkum, her childhood home. Her days were filled with breaking in, training and educating horses and ponies, offering (competitive) training and selling articles in the equestrian sports shop. The location is also well-known for the magnificent and festive (dressage) summer competitions organized by the SHCD.
Unfortunately, the options offered by this place were limited, and the sheltered riding arena’s construction did not make much progress, either.
When in 2008 there was a chance to buy the manor in Buitenpost, which most people still knew as “De Posthoorn” and is the place, from which Ruurd and Menno Botma used to be most successful in various countries and equestrian disciplines – she seized the opportunity with both hands.
Paula has already successfully introduced various horses to sports and saddle classes, and is an active top-level athlete in basic competitive sports dressage and show jumping.
In dressage, Paula has trained several of her own horses as well as animals of other breeders/owners from L1 to Z2.
In show jumping, she and her own top horse Osseweide`s Unanina act on international level. Descending from stallion Goodtimes, Osseweide`s Unanina is a KWPN Star mare, which Paula has trained all by herself.
Currently, the combination is aligned to international 1.40m to 1.50m categories. Apart from that, the stud provides various other young horses, which are supposed to be developed in jumping categories n B to M.
Apart from being active equestrian, Paula also offers (competitive) training and holds the certificates first and second phase ORUN allround (dressage and show jumping).
Furthermore, the “busy bee” is also graduate jury member in dressage up to and including L2.
